Feel good blogging challenge day 2!

“An amazing thing happens when you get honest with yourself and start doing what you love, what makes you happy. Your life literally slows down.  You stop wishing for the weekend. You stop merely looking forward to special events. You begin to live each moment and you start feeling like a human being. You just ride the wave that is life, with this feeling of contentment and joy. You move fluidly, steadily, calm and gracefully. A veil is lifted, and a whole new perspective is born”

This quote is pretty much spot on to how I feel about life. When you stop focusing on all the negative things around you and start to focus on those things that make you happy your life slows down a little bit, you start to realise that there is more to the world than meets the eye.

A few years ago I used to live in this really crappy two bedroom house, it was awful. I couldn’t have my toaster and microwave on at the same time or the power would go out. Quite often I would enjoy a nice cold shower but the worst part of all….…. No Television!

It took less than a year for me to feel extremely unhappy with these living conditions, I felt like everyone else had it better than I did and I couldn’t understand why. It slowly got to the point where I just hated life.

Until one day I couldn’t take it anymore, I was sitting in the lounge room telling myself I couldn’t do this anymore, I needed to change something. I was so sick of being cooped up inside my cold and lonely house so I walked out the back and sat on my veranda.

I turned off my phone and disconnected myself from the world. I sat on the ground and breathed in the fresh air, I needed to have some me time. I needed to let go off all these negative thoughts, I wanted to clear the slate so I could start fresh with positive thinking.

As the sun started to go down the view of dead grass and tiny trees that were miles away started to look kind of pretty.

The sun was almost set when in the distance a kangaroo started to jump towards me, behind were two little baby joeys, behind them was another three kangaroos. The view was amazing.

I had never taken the time to notice these small things around me but now that I have, id fallen in love.

That’s when I become so passionate about nature. When you really sit there and think about it, it’s a remarkable world we live in.

We forget that our planet needs us just as much as we need it. I think sometimes we forget that us humans are not the only living thing on this planet.

This was my biggest driving force when I started Burning Moon; I wanted to create a beautiful candle that wouldn’t be harmful to our amazing planet. I searched for over a year to find the best quality products I could find that were not only high standard but also eco-friendly.

  3. Hi Emilee. Your blog is beautiful. I too feel the same way about my flat after less than a year, and I kick myself for being so desperate that I took the first thing that I saw! It is cold and dark and really, too small! But it was a step in the right direction, and a reason why I am who I am today. It all plays a part - just like you have described. It is because of your house that you discovered the unconditional beauty of nature. Thank you for sharing.
